The Namib Naukluft Campsite is towards the east of Solitaire and lies between the Naukluft Mountains. This area has petrified dunes and vast landscapes. The Naukluft Campsite is amongst gravel canyons and offers rock pools in the season. This region is the Naukluft park or the Naukluft Zebra Park. It is not uncommon to find the Cape Mountain Zebra in this part of Namibia.
It has become a favourite starting and ending point for hikers that enjoy these trails around the Naukluft region. The camp is in a quiet setting with friendly staff. There are no designated sites to select the perfect place on a first arrive basis. The campsites are clean, and rubbish removal and camp cleaning happen. There are a small office and Kiosk on site.
You can purchase your permit and some cold beverages after partaking on the hiking trails. The Campsite has an ideal location and is perfect to participate in short hikes—a great site to base yourself and explore the hiking trails.
The Olive Trail is a short 4 km hike and an excellent introduction to this area upon your arrival. The Waterkloof Trail is 17 km long and follows the river. It is a trail along the ravine and offers some rock pools to enjoy in the season. The Trail is challenging, and the highest point is 1910 meters. It provides excellent animals and birdlife along the way. There is also an eight-day Hiking Trail. We do recommend that you make arrangements in advance. The Local guides are professional and offer great value to the Hiking trail.
This hiking trail is a great adventure. The track is perfect for travellers that seek adventure during their visit to Namibia. The vastness of this region offers a contrast of beauty and adventure.
